Job Description

WhatsApp enables medium to large businesses to connect with their customers using the WhatsApp Business API, our first monetized business product.WhatsApp is seeking an exceptional individual to serve as a Product Marketing Lead for the WhatsApp Business API. This Lead will work on platform features to help scale the Business API to reach more businesses and users. This position will be responsible for leading a team of product marketers who build the platform for the WhatsApp Business API and will support the people on the team as they conduct market-needs assessments and competitive research to influence product roadmaps, and develop and execute global launch plans to bring new products to market. Excellent cross-functional leadership, analytical and communication skills and comfort with ambiguity are a must. The ideal candidate will have management strengths such as showing care, setting clear expectations and goals, and holding people and the team accountable for success. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated experience in business, product strategy and commercialization and have empathy for both consumers and businesses, along with a strong bias for action and rolling up your sleeves to get things done. As a member of the WhatsApp Business API Product Marketing team, the individual in the role will develop close partnerships with several other functions, including Product Management, Engineering, Design, Data Science, Legal, Partnerships as well as global stakeholders internally with cross-functional teams, and also externally with businesses and partners using the API.
  • Lead, manage, mentor and grow a high-performing team of individual contributors
  • Drive multi-year product strategies at the portfolio level and shepherd product development across ideation, alpha, beta and launch, working with Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Integrated Marketing, and other cross-functional partners to bring our products to market
  • Lead product and engineering teams to deeply understand and build empathy for our global customers through market research, data, customer insights and stories. Inspire our teams to bring customers to the center of every product and feature we launch
  • Partner with cross-functional team leaders to develop go-to-market plans globally and quarterback launches to drive adoption of our features
  • Manage high priority, fast moving decisions and communication planning
  • 12+ years of professional experience in technology, messaging, enterprise software or in management consulting working with these verticals
  • Demonstrated experience working with engineering, product management, design, data science and research functions. Experience influencing product development and product strategy
  • Product Marketing or Product Management experience in the web technology sector, with demonstrated experience contributing at strategic, operational and tactical levels
  • Demonstrated experience driving resolution in the context of competing perspectives and priorities
  • MBA degree
  • Project Management skills, experience leading matrix organizations and functions towards common goals with operational rigor and enthusiasm
  • Product strategy experience and go-to-market experience
  • Experience illustrating high-accountability in a dynamic, rapidly changing workplace
