Position Title: Benefits Coordinator

Salary: $50,000

Classification: Full Time; Exempt

Reports to: Human Resources Director

Location: Chicago, IL (Loop)

PURPOSE: Assist human resources personnel in administering, evaluating, and maintaining corporate benefits programs; the candidate will perform all transactional duties dealing with employee benefits and will also offer counsel employees on the use of these benefits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organize and manage daily benefits operation.
  • Conduct benefit orientation explaining benefit plans, enrollment process and answering employee’s questions.
  • Design, develop and distribute benefit communication
  • Manage enrollment and determine employee eligibility
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA as required by company’s policy and legal requirements.
  • Enter employee’s leave in Paylocity using the correct benefit type.
  • Responsible to review and follow up with benefits bills as well timely payment of monthly premiums.
  • Support planning, arrangement and execution of yearly benefits open enrollment
  • Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes. Responsible to follow up with broker or plan administrator when necessary.
  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation claims with third-party administrator. Follow up on open claims.
  • Ensure company’s benefits policy complies with laws and regulation.
  • Responsible to update and distribute all legal notices to employees including Summary Plan Description, Plan Document and Cobra Rights Coverage.
  • Assist with employment and financial verification.
  • Assist HR Director in completing benefits reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree required
  • 2 + years’ experience in benefits administration including COBRA, FMLA, Workers Compensation mandates, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Detail orientated with ability to meet schedules and honor deadlines

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (Ownership For Results)

  • Accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Accuracy and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers.
  • Up to date employees benefits
  • Employee’s Leave of Absence are tracked in paylocity and all documentation is in compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Employees benefit questions and concerns are address in a timely manner

WORK SCHEDULE: 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday. Schedule can vary depending on the needs of the agency.
