Beer Server

Tasting room in Ventura. Full-time. JOB SUMMARY
Beer Servers are responsible for the day-to-day operation of our tasting room, including serving beer, selling merchandise, maintaining the physical space, and constructively interacting with customers. Beer servers are the face of the company, so it is their job to represent Poseidon and our beer in the best, most informative way possible while providing an outstanding service experience for every person who walks in our door. Beer Servers must be efficient, knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic, with the ability to answer a wide range of questions on brewing, our beer and the company. Candidates must share Poseidon Brewing's commitments to quality, safety, business ethics and continuous innovation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet all guests entering the tasting room
• Provide top-notch service to all guests
• Work regular shifts in the tasting room (serving beer, bussing, cleaning, etc.)
• Execute transactions through our POS system
• Maintain responsibility for cash drawers, counting and reporting while on shift
• Help reinforce and provide accountability for all cash handling processes
• Set up the bar on the first shift
• Close down for the evening
• Sell and stock merchandise
• Move and re-stock kegs
• Give brewery tours
• Perform opening/running/closing duties according to Poseidon Brewing policy and procedures
• Maintain all Poseidon Brewing safety and sanitation standards
• Enforce all applicable alcohol laws and rules
• Adhere to and enforce all applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations
• Other tasks may be assigned as needed

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
• Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check
• LEAD certification is required
• Previous cash handling experience
• Working knowledge of high volume operations and safe, responsible alcohol service
• Preferred Cicerone beer server certification
• Preferred previous service industry and/or hospitality experience
• Preferred knowledge of craft beer and the brewing process
• Preferred comprehensive knowledge of Poseidon Brewing products, history and heritage
• Able to handle multiple tasks at one time efficiently and with an upbeat, friendly attitude
• Able to deal with guests in a positive and safety-minded manner
• Able and willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends
• Able to work independently and as a motivated team player
• Strong interpersonal skills, and a love for meeting and interacting with people
• Desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to stand, walk, and be on your feet for prolonged periods
• Able to read and follow written English instructions
• Able to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 55 pounds using appropriate techniques and tools
• Able to maneuver packages of any weight above 75 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance
• Able to move 165-pounds, using appropriate techniques and tools
• Able to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, cold and hot
• Able to work in indoor and outdoor environment with moderate noise, sometimes slippery floors
• Able to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards

Poseidon Brewing is a small 7bbl craft brewery in beautiful Ventura, California. Ventura is a coastal city ideally situated 50 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara just off historic El Camino Real Highway 101. Poseidon opened in August 2014 and has become known for outstanding beers, superior customer service, and a great atmosphere. We take pride in living up to our mantra of brewing “Ales With Depth.” Demonstrated by brewing over 50 distinct and well-balanced beers to date ranging from blonde ale to our ever popular Grapefruit IPA, Double IPA and Imperial Stout.
