Bartender/Server

We are looking to hire Bartenders and Servers at STEAM Restaurant and Bar located inside the Embassy Suites - Downtown Wilmington. Come and be a part of our amazing team!

Job Summary

A Bartender/Server is responsible for serving beverages and/or food to the guests in a friendly, courteous and timely and manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Also, to prepare beverages for other servers to supply to guests, and act as cashier for the lounge.

This position will be scheduled to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Fully open schedule availability is required.

What will I be doing?

A Bartender/Server is responsible for serving beverages and/or food to the guests in a friendly, courteous and timely and manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Also, to prepare beverages for other servers to supply to guests, and act as cashier for the lounge. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

• Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis. This includes requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce based on projections from the daily functions sheet
• Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to insure product quality
• Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks suing standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control. Check guests for proper identification. Detect and act upon guest inebriation as trained. Demonstrate knowledge of liquor laws.
• Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest and personnel guests, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
• Receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and insures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all moneys.
• Locks up and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.

What are we looking for?

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Bartender required; 2 years' experience preferred
• Minimum of one (1) year of cash handling experience required
• Knowledge of beer, wine and spirits required
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the desire to go above and beyond to provide exceptional service to our guests.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.
