Job Description
Position Overview The Automation Engineer III will take the system automation to the next level and expand the scope beyond environment management. The Automation Engineer III will have a passion for automation and understand the intrinsic value of script. The Automation Engineer III will focus on Python and PowerShell scripts and modules to expand the desired state configuration (DSC) and heterogeneous platforms to improve the manageability. The Automation Engineer III will be responsible for automation and execution of the release and environment management activities for a wide range of information technology (IT) platforms. Essential Duties Include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Write the Python and PowerShell modules in code to automate the deployment and configuration of virtual machines and applications.
  • Work with the application ranges from Microsoft structured queries language (SQL) server, Microsoft BizTalk Server, and 3rd party off the shelf applications to custom web services written in-house.
  • Determine the methods and procedures on new projects and coordinate activities of personnel.
  • Develop and deliver complex workflows to automate the deployment of end-to-end environments for development, tests, and production use.
  • Develop and deliver the framework, scripts, and templates to automate common infrastructure provision tasks needed to support the project; including, but not limited to, account management, application installation, and configuration.
  • Determine ways to improve IT through process, people, and technology automation.
  • Collaborate with other senior automation engineers to improve current platform and leverage emerging commercial platforms.
  • Act as a liaison between software engineers, quality engineers, operations, and other IT teams to assist with problem resolution.
  • Develop and execute deployment processes from development environments through production of various platforms; including, but not limited to, sales force dot com (SFDC), Mulesoft/BizTalk, StarLIMS, laboratory information management system (LIMS), and other custom and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) based solutions.
  • Develop and execute sandbox provision processes for SFDC, on-premise, and other platforms.
  • Develop and execute the processes to provision and manage 3rd party AppExchange packages.
  • Log and track the identified deployment and environment management problems through resolution.
  • Ability to document processes, procedures, and policies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field as outlined in the essential duties; or High School Degree/General Education Degree and 4 years of experience in System Automation or relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years of experience working in DevOps, application development, and configuration automation to use PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Jenkins, or similar tools in Microsoft windows and Linux operation environment.
  • 1+ years of experience of general system administration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (ADS)/Team Foundation Server (TFS).
  • Experience with VMware and/or Hyper V experience.
  • Experience with AWS.
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Experience with Automated test tools; including, by not limited to, Selenium.
  • Experience with Terraform and HashiCorp.
