Job Description

The Southern Collision Center is currently looking for an Automotive Body Technician. The Automotive Body Technician repairs damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards
  • Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received
  • Prepares vehicles for body repair work
  • Notifies management of any additional repairs needed or of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time
  • Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer
  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials and reports any deviations to management
  • Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles
  • Understands, complies with, and enforces all complies federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Completes all OSHA training when required
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
  • Two to five years of collision experience in a process-oriented shop preferred
  • A passion and aptitude for collision repair technologies
  • Able to hold yourself accountable and achieve goals with limited direct supervision
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment
  • An impressive work ethic
