Job Description

Position Title: Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Employment Type: Full time

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general supervision of the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will be responsible for assisting with the operation and management of all aspects of the program, including but not limited to: scheduling, budgeting, recruiting, fundraising, practice and game planning, student-athlete development, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, hosting camps and tournaments, and community engagement. All work will be done in accordance with university, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC), and NCAA regulations. Due to the nature of this work, a willingness and flexibility to work nights and weekends is required. This position is a campus security authority and mandatory reporter as defined by federal and state law.

The Assistant Coach will need knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and be committed to the student-athlete concept and NCAA Life in the Balance. This position will utilize organizational skills to direct the program academically, athletically, developmentally, financially and socially. The Assistant Coach will have the ability to create a positive coach/student-athlete relationship, including balancing academics with athletics and creating a supportive environment to develop athletes on and off the court in areas such as leadership, teamwork, maturity, and goal setting.

This role will work in a work in a fast-paced environment and will establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships within a diverse academic environment. There will be travel frequently including nights and weekends for recruiting that will require driving a vehicle.

ORGANIZATION INFORMATION:

UW-Parkside holds the distinction of being the only Division II school in the state of Wisconsin. The Rangers became an official member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) on July 1, 2018.


Under the direction of head coach Luke Reigel, the Parkside men’s basketball program has advanced to six NCAA Division II tournaments. In 2018-19, the Rangers won the GLIAC North Division in their first season in the league. Reigel has been at the helm of the Rangers for 18 years and is the program’s all-time winningest coach.
