ASSOCIATE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

EAD is looking for an Associate Electrical Engineer to assist in providing engineering support for various industrial and commercial projects including: engineering calculations, power distribution, lighting design, controls design, and power analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and EAD standards
• Electrical design with primary responsibilities of power, lighting and controls per client requirements
• Provide studies of power quality, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis
• Development of capital expenditure cost estimates for design/build projects
• Coordinating with other internal team members on multi-discipline projects, which often includes architects, mechanical, process, civil and structural engineers
• Work with designers and drafters to produce detailed designs
• Resolve design and development problems
• Work with a team to deliver quality construction documentation specifications, schematics, power and lighting plans, one-lines, etc.
• Interface with clients, utility companies, construction administrators, project team and vendors
• Participate in discipline-specific and company-wide business development
• Perform and document technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team to produce the highest level of quality
• Responsible for adhering to all EAD's safety standards and practices
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
• 3 years experience in electrical design of industrial and commercial projects
• F.E. or commitment to obtain F.E. within first12 months required with desire to obtain Licensed Professional Engineer certification
• Knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
• Possess organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients and in-house support staff
• Proven proficiency with AutoCAD current Software Release
• Proficient with Excel spreadsheets including macros
• Self-starter with strong attention to detail
• Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Certifications and Skills:

• Knowledge of the NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards preferred

Working Conditions:

• Office, plant, or client site environment*
• Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of time
• Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
• May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*
• Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*
• Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed
• Travel and/or field experience required

• EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment, as necessary.
