The Opportunity:

Associate Medical Director, Population Health Management and Value-Based Care

Population Health Management (PHM), part of the new Value Based Care division, implements an innovative model of care delivery that improves the health of patients while lowering the overall costs of care. PHM includes best practices and solutions to enhance the patient experience, improve outcomes, and provide better organized and more personalized care to our patients. In addition to our own insurance entity, Mass General Brigham providers contract with other commercial and public payers in risk contracts. Our total covered lives have grown to ~700,000.

This Associate Medical Director, in partnership with PHM administrative leaders, will develop the strategy and monitor our performance in our in our risk contracts, lead change, and support creating a performance management process for the PHM department.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Clinical Practice: 5-10 Years of direct patient care.
  • Administration/Management
    • 2-3 years of experience in Health Care Delivery System.
    • 2-3 years of experience in Clinical leadership (ex. quality review, peer review, group/practice management, hospital teams).
  • Medical Management or Care Management
    • 5+ years of knowledge/experience in managed care (consultant, medical director, discharge planning).

  • Proven ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across entities and across disciplines.

To Be Considered:

  • MD or DO degree and current licensure and board certification.
  • Candidates with post-graduate degrees (e.g., MBA, MPH, MMM) preferred.
  • At least three years clinical patient care experience as a general internal or family physician with acute care, hospitalist experience.
  • 4+ years full-time clinical practice experience.
  • Preferred experience running Value-Based Care programs, designing and deploying care pathways for at risk-bearing providers, building and deploying analytics to understand how to monitor performance of Value-Based Care programs and ensure highest value for patients and providers.
  • Experience with population health quality metrics including STAR/HEDIS, healthcare outcomes, health plans and provider networks.

  • Medical Degree (MD) is required.
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in a health related field.
  • At least 5+ years of clinical practice and/or management experience in healthcare.
  • Experience with strategic planning and/or value-based care.
  • Ability to navigate a large complex organization.

Currently remote

  • Professional office setting located in Assembly Row, Somerville, MA. Requires travel locally to other Partners’ sites. Reliable access to transportation to travel between sites for business purposes is required.
