Position Highlights The Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Arizona Department of Medicine is recruiting early or mid-stage career infectious disease scientist with a PhD or DVM who have either established or show promise of establishing a research career. Candidates in the fields of virology, immunology, mycology, population health, and HIV infection are especially encouraged to apply. The Division currently has flourishing programs in the areas of HIV care, including a large Ryan White-funded program; Antimicrobial Stewardship; and extramurally funded research in HIV immunopathogenesis and aging. Important resources available to researchers at the University of Arizona School of Medicine include animal care facilities as well as a veterinary diagnostic laboratory; biostatistical, bioinformatics and computing core services; flow cytometry, microscopy, genomics and proteomics cores; a clinical translational science center that supports clinical trials; the Sarver Heart Center; the Arizona Respiratory Center; the Center on Aging; and a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Duties & Responsibilities

Close scientific collaborative relationships exist with the Department of Immunobiology, the Pulmonary Division, the Valley Fever Center of Excellence, and the Cancer Center.

  • Establish an independent research program with extramural funding and publication of research in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Participate in research seminars of the Department and College.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or DVM degree in related field.
  • Completion of a minimum of 3 years of a post-doctoral fellowship is required.

Preferred Qualifications Candidates should have a strong publication record and demonstrated potential for obtaining independent research funding.
