Job Description

Position Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of marketing professionals on initiatives related to insurance (product and underwriting) and proprietary technology solutions. In addition, you are responsible for leading initiatives related to in-force marketing opportunities with an eye towards driving revenue and efficiency. The successful candidate will develop and deliver plans to promote, enhance, and educate Penn Mutual’s product portfolio to employees, financial professionals, and consumers.


Responsibilities

  • Develops an integrated marketing strategy and annual calendar for all product, technology, and in-force marketing initiatives and campaigns
  • Develops and executes product launch communications plans and marketing programs that support key business priorities
  • Oversees a high volume of product marketing materials, including digital and print materials to promote insurance concepts and product benefits, and educates on the most compelling features
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure complete alignment on initiatives. Stakeholders include:
    • Product Management (Product content)
    • Distribution (Product content)
    • Service Operations & Underwriting (ACE & InSight content)
    • Advanced Markets (Concept content)
    • Finance (Inforce initiatives)
    • Other Marketing Areas (All content)
  • Explores opportunities to enhance policyholder engagement and recommends targeted marketing solutions
  • Provides training communication and presentation support where needed
  • Provides updates to product project team on marketing content creation for new product launches
  • Provides product marketing and sales strategy subject matter expertise and guidance across the home office and field
  • Leads a team with diverse skills and responsibilities providing clear direction and support, as well as professional development support and opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Required Skills
  • Strong business acumen coupled with a thorough understanding of life insurance and annuity product features and functionality, along with a deep understanding of the insurance industry
  • Direct experience working with independent insurance distribution leaders and financial professionals
  • Exhibits a strong professional presence with the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership
  • Ability to effectively influence others, develop credibility and build relationships inside and outside the organization (executives, leaders, employees, external parties)
  • Excellent collaborator with other areas of Marketing, stakeholders, other departments across the organization and third party resources
  • Able to deliver clear guidance, including via the development of excellent business and project briefs for use by internal and external creative resources

Required Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years’ leadership in product marketing, with strong experience in the life insurance industry
  • Experience promoting highly competitive products to both financial professionals and high-net worth consumers
  • Experience working closely with field distribution systems and a deep understanding of life insurance sales concepts
  • Experience in building and leading high-performing teams, both internal and external

Education/Licenses/Professional Designations

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or other relevant discipline required
  • Advanced degree a plus
  • Life insurance industry designations a plus
