Job Description
Roanoke College has an immediate opening for an Assistant Director of Residence Life & Housing. Reporting to the Director and Associate Director of Residence Life & Housing, the individual will be responsible for fostering a living and learning environment in the residence halls that contributes to whole-person, student development. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Residence Life & Housing should promote community development through hall programming and community standards consistent with the mission of the College. This full time, 12 month professional staff position requires staff members to live in campus owned housing with paid utilities and a campus meal plan.

Some key responsibilities include, but are not limited to supervising up to 25 resident advisors; advising neighborhood councils, Residence Hall Association (RHA,) and/or National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH); work in partnership with Campus Safety, Student Health and Counseling, Facilities Maintenance, and Housekeeping to meet the needs of our students; assist the Dean of Students’ Office in conduct and Care Team matters; and serve in the over-night on call rotation.

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor's degree in college student personnel, counseling, higher education or a related field, previous residence life and housing experience, the ability to assume initiative, work independently, and possess a valid driver’s license. Master's degree is preferred. Candidates must also possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience using StarRez and Maxient and a desire to work at small, private liberal arts college.
