CHCW is looking for a quality, ambitious, and enthusiastic Assistant Controller to join our team in Yakima. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be a key member of the accounting team and help shape the rapid growth of the Organization. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Assisting the Controller with the overall accounting function to include payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets and cash management.
  • Assisting with the developing, monitoring and maintaining of annual budgets.
  • Assisting with completing monthly management reports and annual cost reports.
  • Assisting the Controller with Developing, documenting, communicating, and monitoring internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Assisting with managing the General Ledger (GL) and the GL Chart of Accounts.
  • Assisting with developing and maintain costing systems.
  • Assisting with ensuring timely general ledger closing to include account reconciliation and journal entry preparation.
  • Assisting with invoicing and financially managing grants.
  • Assisting with reviewing the work completed by other accounting team members.
  • Assisting with the preparation of external audit and tax information requirements and the timely completion of schedules.
  • Attending educational seminars to further understanding of changing guidelines in health care, grant accounting, GAAP, and technologies when requested.

Qualified candidates will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional accounting experience
  • Knowledge of not-for profit healthcare industry strongly preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with MAS/Sage accounting products preferred
  • Impeccable integrity

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Extremely organized with strong investigative and follow-up skills as well as attention to details
  • Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
