Job Description
Army West Point Athletic Association (AWPAA) currently seeks qualified applicants for an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Qualified candidates will demonstrate consistent integrity, the highest level of ethical standards, and will abide by all rules and regulations set forth by the United States Military Academy (USMA), AWPAA, the NCAA, and the Patriot League. This role will support the daily treatment and overall wellness of Cadet-Athletes, work collaboratively with other departments to mitigate injury risk, and maintain proper documentation for all aspects of treatment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation care to Cadet-Athletes.
  • Coordinate the record-keeping of physical examinations, treatments, injury reports, and physician referrals.
  • Effectively communicates all necessary matters related to Cadet-Athlete health and safety to the Head Athletic Trainer, coaches, parents, and physicians.
  • Provides education and instruction to Cadet-Athletes on the prevention and care of injuries.
  • Implements proper risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Strength and Conditioning department.
  • Maintains thorough and accurate records related to injuries, treatment, rehabilitation, and exposure.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree required
  • National Athletic Trainers' Association Certification
  • Board of Certification License
  • New York State Board of Education Certification, or eligible
  • CPR/AED certified
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends, night, and holidays
  • Travel to competitions as necessary
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions
