Plant Utility Assembler Position:

Whirlpool in Amana, Iowa is looking for Assemblers to help assemble our world class refrigerators. This position involves picking parts to install by hand or with tools onto the refrigerator while it moves on the assembly line.

We operate 3 Shifts:

1st Shift: Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm starting at $18.00per hour

2nd Shift: Monday- Friday 3:30pm- 12:00am starting at $18.00 + $.30 shift differential per hour

3rd Shift: Sunday - Thursday 12:00am- 7:00am starting at $18.00 per hour working 7 hours but getting paid for 8 hours.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

• 18 years or older

• Highschool Diploma/ GED

• Follow company policies and production standards

• Pick Parts, obtain tools, assemble parts, install parts

• Handle parts safely and with care

• Work on a moving/conveyor style production assembly line

• Ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 35lbs

• Visually check for quality, fit, finish, etc.

• Report any discrepancy to the supervisor or Team Leader

• Continuously stand or walk ( up to 10 hours per day)

• Work in a Team Environment

Materials & Warehousing:

The logistics team consists of material handlers that drive fork trucks and tuggers and delivers over tens of thousands of parts daily from the warehouse to the assembly lines to support production.

Fabrication/ Backshop:

Opportunities in our Fabrication departments include plastic & fabrication set up operators, thermoforming and sheet metal encasements.

Quality Inspectors:

Quality inspectors pay attention to detail and inspect all our products and ensure we are producing the best quality for our customers. Available opportunities in quality include assembly line inspectors, CMM technicians and troubleshooting techs.

Lean Manufacturing:

The lean manufacturing department focuses on optimizing assembler workstations, time studies and material rack designing.

Maintenance/ Tool & Die:

Our best in class maintenance team consists of machinists, tool and die tooling specialists, electricians, mechanics, carpenters, facilities and waste treatment techs.

The maintenance crew diagnoses and provides upkeep for all manufacturing equipment including PLCs, robotics, automation, motors and conveyors.

About Whirlpool Amana

Whirlpool Amana is a manufacturing plant situated in the historic and scenic Amana Colonies. We manufacture Amana, Whirlpool, Maytag ,Jenn Air and the famous KitchenAid French Door Bottom Mount Refrigerators. We have internal departments like Plastics which takes plastic beads and presses them into sheets of plastic that are thermoformed into the interior liners of the fridge, doors and freezer. Fabrication takes raw steel coils and presses them into the hull of our doors and cabinets. Materials with the use of fork trucks and tuggers deliver the parts to the assembly lines. Assembly Operations install parts including screws, shelves, manufacturing stickers, brackets etc. into the fridge and fridge doors. Quality inspects the products throughout the assembly line as a check and balance for our customers and maintenance keeps our equipment running for easy production. Our facility comes equipped with ample parking, cafeteria, break rooms and Occupational Health Center. The facility is one of Whirlpool’s most diverse facilities with over 38 countries represented in our plant!
