Job Description

The Temporary Art Lead (Art Director) is responsible for combining the art of design with effective learning. This position works closely with a content development team to design visually accessible pages and multi-media that supports the objectives and goals of an on-line course.

This is a temporary position and in addition to the above, this individual will contribute HTML5 and JavaScript coding skills with an eye towards web accessibility.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the media vision and production of media for e-learning product(s) and support in the development of HTML5 interactives and other assets.
  • Consults with curricular team and/or project owners on the media vision and course development.
  • Creates or manages media style guides and ensures media adheres to styles.
  • Collaborates with project owners to specify media assets to be developed.
  • Collaborates with project owners to manage schedule and budget during production.
  • Communicates regularly with Media Production Manager regarding status of projects and budgets.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience in graphic design and developing multi-media assets. Educational publishing or e-learning experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from four year college, university or art school. Focus on Interactive media design and graphic design or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of Adobe publishing software (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, Animate)
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Understanding of JavaScript, coding and web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
  • Understanding of best practices in web design, typography, video, photo editing and layout.
  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 accessibility requirements.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Strong understanding of design and effective multi-media development.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience graphic design and developing multi-media assets.
  • Sound understanding of web design, HTML5, JavaScript and CSS3.
  • Portfolio of work.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods
  • Also includes repetitive motions of fingers, hands, and/or wrists due to frequent computer use
  • Able to communicate clearly with others to exchange information
  • Frequently required to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned
  • Must be capable of working extended hour days when job/business needs demand
