Job Description

Metro is a multi-disciplinary practice with locations equipped with state-of-the-art fitness equipment and modalities, allowing the highly trained staff every luxury in treatment.

Metro Physical Therapy has an immediate opening for a full-time Accounts Receivable Posting Specialist. Under direct supervision of the Billing Department Supervisors, is responsible for accurate and timely posting of insurance and patient payments and adjustments.

Monday – Friday: 8:30am-5:00pm

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates, monitors, and manages the follow-up on unpaid claims.
  • Prep payment batches and post to the patient accounts; update the daily Receipts log.
  • Post all payments to include insurance, patient, and client payments. Apply all proper adjustments and denials to patient accounts. Verify the patient’s account number, date of service, name, and date of birth to ensure payment is being applied to correct account. Verify batch totals, edit, reconcile, and update payment batches.
  • Read, understand, and comprehend Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) from insurance carriers.
  • Understands, and able to evaluate fee schedules, according to the EOB.
  • Research unidentified payments and/or recoupments to determine correct transaction.
  • Notify supervisor of any issues related to payment posting, adjustments or denials.
  • Uses good documentation skills to document process and procedure as well as conversations with clients and insurance carriers.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Associates Degree or high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant experience
  • One year of Physician Billing experience, including insurance carrier follow up and patient.
  • Excellent P.C. Skills, Microsoft Word and Excel (accuracy a must).
  • 1-3 years medical posting and accounts receivable experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to patient inquires.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have medical posting experience.
  • Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
  • Must work effectively with all management levels and staff affiliates.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, maturity, and good judgment; demonstrates a positive can-do attitude; have effective communication skills with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal/ communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
