We are seeking an Account Supervisor with experience in multicultural marketing and communications to join our team and work on projects that support our health team. The Account Supervisor manages specific client deliverables and activities as assigned by the account lead and ensures that client needs are met with as-needed guidance and oversight from senior members of the team. He/she provides consistent and reliable support, including “managing up” where necessary to ensure adherence to internal and client deadlines. He/she possesses and demonstrates a solid understanding of the agency business, has developed a range of communications and marketing skills (e.g., writing for various audiences, media relations, partnership development, social media, business development), and routinely demonstrates sound judgment and strategic thinking skills. He/she plays a significant role in the efficient and successful pursuit of new business opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrate skills in strategic thinking and planning, including discerning and articulating a clear and effective path forward, anticipating future trends and needs, seeing the big picture and applying a broad perspective, articulating vision, and creating innovative plans that work
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients and account teams to help guide development of health communication campaigns that aim to drive behavior change, educate members of the public, influence health care providers, and build strategic partnerships through a multicultural marketing and communications lens
  • Provide media relations counsel to clients and account teams that helps to: (1) drive awareness of a health topic or issue among diverse audiences; (2) continue elevating the conversation around topics such as health disparities, health equity, and the impact of bias on health and health care; and/or (3) help clients better communicate their role and work in addressing health disparities
  • Manage specific client projects and/or task areas, such as communications planning, content creation, materials development, earned media outreach, special events planning and implementation, partnership development, digital and social media engagement
  • Lead the development of project plans; support the development of annual client plans
  • Deliver excellent client service, including attending promptly to client requests, monitoring client satisfaction, keeping senior leaders abreast of progress, developing and seeking input on solutions for any issues that arise, and ensuring that all work performed is strategic, creative, innovative, and error-free
  • Serve as a member of Hager Sharp’s Multicultural Marketing and Communications Team to help develop culturally and linguistically appropriate, relevant, and inclusive messages and materials, media strategies (digital and traditional), and grassroots PR activations for a broad range of audiences and clients/accounts
  • Serve as a member of Hager Sharp’s IDEA Task Force/Culture Committee to explore and create pathways for making Hager Sharp a more inclusive and diverse workplace
  • Compose well thought-out and well-written client documents
  • Review and ensure the high quality of client deliverables
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships within each assigned client, and become seen as a trusted project manager
  • Maintain timely and thorough understanding and awareness of key issues relating to client(s)
  • Support the management of client budgets, invoicing; manage progress reporting
  • Oversee junior-level staff on individual projects; mentor junior-level staff to develop and enhance their client service, project management, and business development skills
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of client and agency project management systems
  • Develop and deliver presentations in an effective, persuasive manner
  • Support specific agency-wide initiatives as requested
  • Demonstrate an emerging expertise in social marketing, marketing communications and/or integrated marketing
  • Demonstrate emerging thought leadership and actively seek visibility opportunities to bring positive recognition to the firm
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in communications or related field; experience in a communications agency setting a plus
  • Experience working on integrated multicultural health marketing campaigns, particularly for government agencies, non-profit organizations, or professional associations
  • Experience developing and executing media strategies for traditional (i.e., print and broadcast) and digital outlets at the national, regional, and local levels; It is preferred that this experience include strategies that have reached and impacted multicultural audiences
  • Broad experience developing and implementing health communication campaigns and/or health education programs for communities of color and other groups that have been marginalized, including but not limited to African Americans, Hispanics and Latinos, American Indians and Alaska Natives, and Asian Americans, people with disabilities, LGBTQ audiences, people living in poverty, and people living in rural communities
  • Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consistent and reliable support, including balancing multiple projects well under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and critically to advance client projects
  • Proven skills in writing for various audiences, business development, earned media outreach, social media, partnership outreach, materials development, and/or events
  • Experience developing messages and materials that use principles of plain language and health literacy
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficiency in public relations tools, such as Cision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
