We are looking for a full-time Account Executive / Unit Manager to join our growing team in Chesterfield, MO.

SUMMARY

Leads assigned Commercial Lines Business Unit with timely and quality handling of a large volume of complex accounts with minimal direction or guidance. Manages and directs all aspects of the unit to ensure unit service standards are met, while independently performing the duties of an individual contributor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Directs managing, monitoring and meeting deadlines for a large volume of complex accounts, such as handling multi-locations, multi-states and international risks. Complex accounts require a higher degree of technical knowledge with numerous and/or multifaceted policies. Reviews new and renewals with Producer, Account Executives, and/or Service Staff.
  • Responsible for working with minimal direction and guidance on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assist with account specific training for employees in commercial lines to meet the individual service standards and requirements.
  • Take leadership role in commercial lines department as it relates to special projects, under staffing situations and serve in mentor role for other employees.
  • Gathers and prepares submission information as appropriate to the account and coordinates the marketing process. Responsible for the marketing and negotiation of coverage, terms and premium.
  • Prepares proposals from information provided by Producer, marketer and quotes adhering to set deadlines.
  • Binds coverage per agency binding guidelines for authority and prepares surplus lines documents as necessary to the account.
  • Checks policies for accuracy against applications, proposals and binding instructions. Requests necessary corrections and follow through to successful completion.
  • Promptly and accurately responds to client requests and oversees and/or prepares necessary documents.
  • Conduct on-line rating, and use of insurance analysis tools including loss forecasting and benchmarking.
  • Consistently strives to make a positive contribution to customer satisfaction.
  • Provide administrative support including photocopying, faxing, scanning for email and filing.
  • Ensures confidentiality of information acquired.
  • Responds to client on all facets of customer service including coverage review, analysis and recommendations, quoting and securing coverage, and claims assistance with minimal guidance.
  • Adherence to all aspects of the agency’s guidelines and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training/Experience

  • Bachelors degree in business related field
  • 5-8 years’ experience in underwriting, rating and billing or prior insurance experience at an agency or related company;
  • 3-5 years’ experience providing customer service to commercial lines customers, prior management experience preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as renewal applications, workers’ compensation mod sheets and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to professionally communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • PC operation to an intermediate level, including word processing and data entry.
  • Standard software programs utilized: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Industry specific software experience preferred.

LICENSE(S)/CERTIFICATION(S) REQUIRED:

  • MO or IL Producer’s license
  • CIC, ARM, CRM, CPCU or CRIS designation preferred

ON-THE-JOB TRAINING TIME:

Three (3) to six (6) months.

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, stoop, and kneel. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 10 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision and ability to adjust and focus, distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), ability to identify and distinguish colors, peripheral vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance the functions of this job.

Primarily normal office conditions; occasional exposure to weather conditions, dirt, dust, noise, and physical hazards when visiting client locations.
