Position Description
Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Coordinate student preregistration
  • Red Raider Orientation: Assure that orientation material is up-to-date and available, conduct orientation programs, represent department in orientation and advisor meetings on campus, assure department is well represented in university in university orientation and advisor meetings
  • Monitor WCOE Engineering expectations
  • Senior Exit Interviews
  • Administer regulations regarding academic program requirements set forth by the department and the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee
  • Monitor departmental curriculum requirements and assure students in major are aware of regulations.
  • Work as a team with all departmental staff, this includes cross training on answering phones, etc.
  • Maintain current files on enrollment data & assure enrollment data is up-to-date and accurate
  • Counsel with students concerning course requirements, declaration of majors and minors, transfers, grade point requirements, course substitutions, and probation and/or suspension
  • Assure that all students are aware of academic requirements and problems
  • Always abide by work and safety rules in day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain files and advise students of their progress toward a degree plan or the completion of a degree plan
  • Assure all students in major and minor are aware of their progress towards their degree requirements, and what is necessary to complete their degree requirements
  • Preparation and maintenance of student orientation materials, workshops, and seminars for the department
  • Compare degree requirements and content of courses offered with those of other colleges and universities
  • Maintains current list of transfer course equivalents from other primary colleges and universities in cooperation with the Deans office and Departmental Chair
  • Work with the chair, university, and college personnel to develop and maintain a strong recruitment program, coordinate student recruitment program for the department
  • Assist faculty and students with mass add/drops and instructor verifications for the department
  • Assist the department with ABET activities, including date collection
  • Support student organizations and services
  • Assist in scheduling courses
  • Prepare reports and trends as requested by department chair
  • Carry out other tasks as needed for the benefit of the department and university

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer experience with Banner, Raiderlink, Cognos reports and Ad Astra.
