2.19 - General Production - Bama Foods (66th St. North) 3rd Shift (11pm - 7am)

Salary Range:
$11.50/Hour starting rate
$1.00/Hour for 2nd/3rd Shift Differential Pay
$1.00/Hour weekend Premium Pay
$0.25/Hour increase every 90 Days! (1st year)

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt & Full Time

Description:At Bama, an employee in the General Production position is expected to understand, engage and participate in the production activities in his/her area of responsibility. The General Production employee is directly responsible for making a high quality, safe product; while minimizing scrap, meeting customer expectations, and ensuring a safe work environment and practices. The General Production employee will also be responsible for working in multiple positions and operating multiple pieces of machinery and/or equipment.

Essential Job Functions /Skills:

  • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Regularly attend work on time and for the entire shift at the office or plant where you are scheduled
  • Complete job tasks and responsibilities as directed or required (for example, counting and hand packing product into boxes, visually inspect product for quality and food safety issues that are out of compliance, perform assigned quality assurance checks, assist with packaging of product before it moves to palletization, assist in troubleshooting failures and identify corrective actions)
  • Understand quality standards, follow those standards and know what to do and who to contact when some process is not functioning correctly
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled in legibly and correctly for area of responsibility
  • Set up, monitor and adjust to compliance the automated machinery
  • Perform routine equipment repairs, TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance), with an emphasis in taking responsibility for overall cleanliness, orderliness, maintenance and inspection of the equipment/area and assist maintenance as assigned
  • Clean, organize and sanitize production area and equipment
  • Understand and utilize measurement systems and tools
  • Deal politely and work cooperatively with team members and others in the facility, by listening to and respecting each other
  • Rotate jobs as assigned
  • Safely perform several tasks at once which may include operating multiple pieces of machinery

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting Required to lift raw ingredients, finished goods, tools, parts, building supplies, paperwork, records, etc. Weight range up to 55 lbs.
  • Pulling Pull carts, totes, boxes, etc.
  • Pushing Push carts, totes, boxes, etc.
  • Reaching Reach for required work tools or materials in assigned work area
  • Standing Required to stand during most of the day. Employee must have ability to stand for up to 12 hours.
  • Walk Move about on foot to accomplish tasks. Amount of walking is dictated by the work that needs to be done and the location of the work area.
  • Climbing Ability to ascend or descend stairs or ladder to access work area
  • Balance Maintain body equilibrium on narrow, slippery or moving surfaces.
  • Communicate - Talk and communicate orally for the purpose of solving problems that may occur in operation. Exchange ideas and information, in person, by telephone, and two way radios.
  • Motor Control Coordination Coordinate body motions with visual stimuli in order to type, operate vehicles or mechanical equipment etc.
  • Feel Perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, etc., by touching. Ability to sense if a piece of equipment is too hot or cold.
  • Holding Grasp and hold items as necessary to complete necessary job functions.
  • Driving May be required to operate a forklift or stand-up pallet jack.
  • Operate Controls Use arms or hands and/or feet to move controls.
  • Hear Perceiving the nature, intent, or meaning of sounds.
  • Seeing Normal or With Correction.
    • Near Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
    • Far Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
    • Color Identifying and distinguishing colors.

  • Physical excursion (non-assisted breathing). Employee activities require the agility to move in and around equipment. Must be able to climb ladders and work in tight, confined areas.

Required Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid food handler's card through Tulsa Health Department

Preferred Experience:

  • Understand manufacturing guidelines for food safety and sanitation.
  • Experience with set-up and operation of automated batch processing system.
  • Experience with set-up and operation of packaging machinery.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Proven safety record in past work history.
