Description:
Basic Function
The T-Truck Wrecker Operator must have a thorough knowledge of all components of METRO vehicles and their proper functions, and be able to diagnose problems and affect the repair to completion in a timely, safe manner. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties

Independently diagnose and repair defects on METRO Buses, Vans and/or Non-Revenue Vehicles under the supervision of the Maintenance Foreman and/or Bus Control.

Maintain, clean and service assigned service truck or wrecker.

Perform safe front or flat towing of METRO vehicles using a heavy-duty under-lift wrecker, medium or light duty rollback wrecker.

Responsible for maintaining the inventory and care of all tools and supplies (i.e., fluids, lubricants, etc.) on the assigned vehicles.

Complete all required pre and post-trip reports and paperwork in a timely manner.

Complete and submit road call incident reports on all vehicles requiring assistance.

Assist operations and maintenance of METRO’’s High Water Evacuation Vehicle fleet.

Performs the duties of a bus repair technician.

Performs data entry to enter information, vehicle or equipment repair and repair times using the UI or SAP Maintenance system.

Maintain a clean and safe work area while in the shop.

Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.

Performs other job-related duties as required.

Education Requirement
High school diploma or GED is required.
Years & Experience Required
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in trouble shooting and repair on light to heavy duty vehicles. Additional progressive mechanical experience and heavy-duty under-lift towing experience preferred.
Knowledge & Skills Required
Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License "CDL A" and the ability to drive any METRO owned vehicles; light, heavy duty and roll back wrecker. Good communication (verbal and written) skills. Full set of hand tools. Able to complete/fill-out written reports, records, and forms. Able to maintain or obtain any additional licensing or certifications as required.
