Our ideal Veterinary Technician candidate is positive, friendly, and eager to support a team of talented individuals. This person should be familiar with performing routine treatments and procedures, with the interest in learning more advanced procedures from the Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine. Credentialed candidates are a plus, but not required – veterinary technician students welcome!

  • Provides compassionate care to patients and clients
  • Keeps accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy, including in-depth knowledge of medical terminology and record keeping.
  • Prepares and maintains the exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Performs physical assessments and records observations, including triaging and problem solving to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Safe, low stress and compassionate handling and restraint.
  • Prepares estimates for procedures and discusses financial commitments with clients
  • Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • Pharmacy skills, including protocols for filling in-house
  • Radiography and digital imaging
  • Monitors vitals by hand and with equipment
  • Sample collection and processing for in-house and reference labs
  • Builds initial rapport and long term relationships with both pets and clients, successfully communicates plans and estimates to owners.
  • Maintains an appropriate inventory of all medical supplies as determined by the inventory control system
  • Assists the Veterinarian in medical, surgical and dental procedures; prepares patients for surgery; administers anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids
  • Communicates within the team, proactively advocating for their patient’s needs



Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) is highly desirable; equivalent training and experience may substitute.
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain. Dedication to safety for all parties involved.
  • Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
  • Well skilled in balancing multiple priorities and tasks with attention to detail.
  • Experience recognizing your limits and asking for help as needed.
  • Strong work ethic and track record of being reliable.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
