WHO WE WANT

We are looking for dynamic individuals who care about students' and their futures to serve in the role of a counselor. Counselors should be passionate about creating and supplying structures and resources that will help students thrive during their school experience and in preparation for their futures.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Specific responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

• Manages school programming and scheduling. Fix student schedules, rosters, and teacher issues, etc.
• Oversees master schedule; complete beginning of year scheduling and on-going schedule changes throughout the year; assist with course selection of caseload
• Provides individual counseling sessions for assigned students in dealing with their personal needs as they affect school performance, as well as their educational and career plans
• Provides emergency support to students as needed during crises.
• Serves as a consultant to the faculty concerning matters related to guidance services.
• Develops and delivers professional development for school staff on issues relating to student socio-emotional mental and physical health
• Assist with high school tours
• Supports students and families with high school selection and enrollment process
• Assist with coordination of Open House, Report Card Pick-up, & Orientation
• Advise staff on student issues and issues affecting diverse learners
• Serves as a resource person for administration in matters relating to students and guidance services; provides thorough and timely reports, data, etc. as requested by administration.
• Serves as a resource for information regarding the educational program, activities and services of the school.
• Maintains counseling record (i.e., summary, log) regarding conferences or other sessions with assigned students.
• Oversees the administration of state-mandated assessment programs.
• Reviews and interprets results of assessment programs for assigned students and utilizes results for counseling purposes.
• Contributes to the evaluation of current curriculum offerings.
• Strives to establish cooperative relations and makes a reasonable effort to communicate with parents when necessary and appropriate.
• Adhere to all directives from the Principal
• Creates Bulletin Boards
• Assist parents with Parent Portal sign in

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in school guidance and counseling and/or some years of related experience.
• Type 73 School Counselor Certification
• Ability to learn the student information system (DC STARS).
• Familiarity with Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) as well as other state and federal regulations that are relevant to the role.
• Ability to analyze data to inform work and decision making, analyze and evaluate available data, assess student needs and develop and implement procedures and policies to support student achievement.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Be Fully Vaccinated:
  Chicago International Charter School requires all employees to be fully vaccinated* for COVID-19 as a condition of employment effective January 18, 2022. All offers of employment after that date are contingent upon proof of full-vaccination status as a part of the pre-employment process.
  
  • Fully vaccinated is defined as follows: At least two weeks have passed since receipt of the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine, or the second dose of the either the Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech two-dose vaccines.
