We are currently looking for a dynamic individual as a Sr. Staff Process Safety Engineer for our Performance Products Division at our manufacturing site located in Conroe, Texas.

This position has the responsibility for 1) facilitation of risk assessments and process hazard analysis including HAZOP, What-if, LOPA, QRA and Facility Siting, 2) working with divisional site personnel and PSM representatives to coordinate PSM activities, and 3) promotion/adherence to corporate and regulatory PSM standards primarily for the Performance Products (PP) North Americas region.

What will be expected from you?

• Lead and/or facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Facility Siting Studies (FSS) required for Management of Change activities, projects and site revalidation schedules.
• Work with site personnel to schedule, coordinate and document PHA/LOPA/FSS studies and revalidations.
• Develop study reports, evaluate action plans, and monitor/track completion of actions with verification.
• Benchmark hazard study methods and results with similar operations in other global regions to ensure consistency and correct application of risk.
• Provide process safety consulting support and recommend optimal solutions to the region’s engineering and operational teams in the development and execution of hazard study recommendations to ensure compliance with Huntsman’s PSM standards and policies.
• Conduct dispersion analysis activities to model chemical release scenarios to set scenario severities. This may require the use of in-house modeling software and/or collaboration with 3rd party contractors to model complex release scenarios.
• Perform specialized risk studies including quantitative risk analysis in conjunction with Huntsman’s Center of Excellence (COE) and 3rd party contractors for company risk assessment and/or regulatory requirements.
• Organize/Facilitate verification and integrity assessment activities for Independent Protection Layers (IPL’s) to ensure IPL’s achieve reliability to which they are credited.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or equivalent Engineering degree with 15+ years specific experience.
• 5+ years of experience in leading PHA/LOPA studies for Batch and Continue Process over a range of chemistries and operations.
• Experience with PHAPro software required.
• Experience in managing process safety programs with an OSHA-PSM and EPA-RMP focus required.
• Experience with dispersion modeling highly desired (ALOHA, PHAST, RAST, or equivalent).
• Candidate must have considerable experience with process engineering technologies used in high hazard chemical manufacturing (continuous/batch) environments.
• Experience and working knowledge of ANSI/ISA–84.00.01 (IEC 61511) for the process industry is preferred.
