Position Summary
The Sr. Research QA Engineer is responsible for research software applications and systems that are developed either in-house or vendor managed for variety of needs across City of Hope including Informatics, Clinical and Translational Research.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and maintain best QA practices for Research Software
  • In collaboration with Manager or Director, come up with KPI’s and measure them for the long term.
  • Closely manages the release management and QA process of Research Software applications.
  • Collaborate with other teams, including business sponsor and analysis and developers, in ensuring the quality standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Closely work with project managers in full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) of Software.
  • Work with other Enterprise teams in promoting Quality and Standard Practices through City of Hope.
  • Work closely with other application development teams, in both new and on-going applications, from requirement analysis to deployment.
  • Prepare test plans, unit test cases, and release criteria for Research Software.
  • Work closely with agile project teams in building Research Software development.
  • Maintain a positive image when dealing with department personnel and other City of Hope employees.
  • Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Performs special projects as assigned by management.


Qualifications
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field of study required. A Bachelors degree with substantial experience will be considered.
  • Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements
  • 7 to 10 Years of relevant experience in Software QA
  • Experience with Research Software in Healthcare and related domain


Preferred education experience and skills:
  • Exposure to various programming frameworks such as: .NET, Java, PHP, Ruby etc.
  • Experience working with both local and remote teams
  • Experience with Software QA in both Enterprise setting and open-source based software
  • Experience with Scientific or Clinical Research software is highly desirable
  • Experience with Platforms like Oracle Fusion, HP ALM is a plus
