Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Contact and meet with clients who have indicated a need for social services such as medical care and insurance, food/nutrition, housing, financial assistance, education, employment, and child care.
• Assess best course of action in collaboration with the client, including follow-up.
• Willingness to learn and do other tasks related to Wakota’s mission including pregnancy tests and client advocacy.
• Be able to support Wakota’s mission and philosophy and communicate it as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Enjoy working with and a desire to serve pregnant and parenting women and their families who come from a wide variety of cultures, backgrounds and circumstances.
• Ability to assist those clients affected by domestic abuse, childhood trauma, substance abuse and mental health issues.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors Degree in Social Work
• Masters Degree in Social Work desirable
• Licensed or actively working toward licensure in Social Work desirable

Job Qualifications: We are looking for an empathetic, pro-life social worker/client advocate to meet with clients who are pregnant and/or parenting in order to either provide or connect them with needed resources. Will need to gather and assess relevant information and determine best course of action including Wakota services plus contacting and referring to other agencies and services as needed.
