Performs complex laboratory tests and analyzes results

  • Evaluates and solves problems
  • Remains knowledgeable and competent for all policies, procedures and protocols
  • Ensures and verifies quality control data is appropriate for the complexity of the reported tests

  • Validates and evaluates new methodologies and tests

  • Troubleshoots instrument problems and tests new equipment
  • Completes, verifies and reports testing in a timely manner
  • Complies with safety guidelines and procedures and adheres to regulatory mandates
  • Prepares specimens and performs analytical examinations and quality tests
  • Operates and performs preventive maintenance

Enhances productivity and laboratory lab functions by demonstrating dependability
  • Adjusts, prioritizes, and organizes work to achieve maximum productivity to meet the workload demands of the section
  • Assists peers and supervisors with tasks after completion of assigned work

Assists in the development of laboratory personnel and tests, to enhance laboratory functions
  • Accurately trains and performs competency assessments

  • Validates database for new software or new tests implemented in the laboratory

  • Manages all customer service interactions with diplomacy, actively facilitating resolutions to problems and addressing the needs of clients both internal and external

  • Maintains proficiency on computer functions in the lab processes
  • Properly acquires specimen data into computer system(s)
  • Analyzes and evaluates patient results correctly and appropriately
  • Stores patient information and results to allow easy future access as required

Bachelor's degree -OR- Bachelor's degree in Molecular Genetic Technology- -OR- completion of an accredited Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science program. Four years of clinical laboratory experience. With Master's degree two years of required experience. With Doctorate degree, no experience required. One of the following: Technologist/Scientist certification in Blood Banking (BB), Chemistry (C), Hematology (H), Microbiology (M), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Molecular Biology (MB) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Board of Registry (BOR) or Certified Histocompatability (CHT) by the American Society of Histocompatability and Immunogenetics (ASHI) or Medical Technologist (MT) or Molecular Diagnostics Technologist (MDT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
