Safety and Quality Assurance Manager

The Safety and Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for implementation of workplace safety (through process and live on-site training), enforcement of operational compliance, and creation of risk management policies. Specifically, this position will play a key role in upgrading Revolution’s safety and health program, developing and implementing Revolution's quality control and assurance policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This role also includes development and implementation of a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program, product quality tracking systems, ingredient management programs, allergen and sanitization management programs, product safety practices, internal and external audits, etc. The individual will also ensure compliance with all Revolution Corporate operating procedures, as well as applicable federal, state, local rules.
The specific areas of direct supervision are:- OSHA and workplace safety compliance
- Serve as the compliance "Champion" at the facility
- Maintain and update SOP’s as necessary
- Hazard walk throughs, communication, and remediation
- In-person on-site trainings including but not limited to OSHA, HAACP, SOP, state specific regulatory guidelines.
Essential Functions:- Examine workplace conditions for OSHA standards conformance for hazard communication, equipment cleaning and maintenance, safety training, work-related injury and illness logs maintenance, medical examinations and PPE enforcement
- Conduct cultivation and operations environmental assessments to mitigate compliance risks
- Manage the development, implementation and continuous refinement of policies, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of protocols
- Perform risk assessments of facilities
- Establish and publish monthly metrics focused on facility's current quality assurance and quality control progress
- Establish employee safety goals, monitoring performance and providing feedback for success
- Draft and implement corrective actions for compliance findings
- Coordinate cross functional efforts with Legal, Human Resources, Operations, and Facilities for thorough analysis of risks and development of mitigating strategies
- Maintain current knowledge of trends and practices in quality control, safety and program management
- Maintain and update, as required, comprehensive policies, plans, and emergency procedures
- Responsible for ongoing in-person/on-site compliance training for staff, maintaining employee and equipment certifications, operational permit renewals and compliance
- Champion initiatives that deliver continuous improvement, culture transformation, waste reduction and/or cost savings
- Develop and maintain quality assurance and control measures
- Guide communication with inspections from regulating bodies
- Maintain and update, as required, comprehensive policies, plans, and emergency procedures
Non-Essential Functions:Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications:- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Compliance Management, Food Science or equivalent field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of quality assurance and quality control experience preferred
- Minimum 3 years of regulatory compliance management with regulator and inspector interaction preferred
- OSHA 10, OSHA HAZCOM, SQF, ISO, GMP, ASQ, HACCP or similar certification preferred
- Experience in the development of a comprehensive QMS in a start-up business environment
- Cannabis experience a plus
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
- Experience with sanitation processes in manufacturing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Teams, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate to all levels within an organization, particularly senior management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
- Ability to work in a matrixed, highly collaborative environment
- Ability to think critically and strategically align programs and projects to business objectives
- Must pass all required background screening and maintain required agent ID card
Physical Requirements:- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25lbs to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance
- Must be able to work seated/standing as appropriate at workstations for extended periods of time, maintain body equilibrium while climbing ladders, stairways, stopping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, and use hands/fingers to hold, grasp, turn, pick, pinch frequently/constantly to complete tasks
- Must be able to handle organic matter daily, able to wear PPE as appropriate (eye, face, hand, arm, head, foot, body, fall protection), and able to be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions while wearing PPE (95 degrees or greater)
- Must have visual acuity with/without job aids to perform activities such as; reading, viewing a computer terminal, visual inspection involving small parts/details. Clarity of vision at 20 ft or more in day and night/dark conditions
- Must be able to speak and communicate verbally at conversation levels with co-workers, vendors, etc. (Moderate noise)
WORK SCHEDULE:- 40+ hours weekly with flexible hours depending on department needs. Must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
