    Position Summary

    The Research Associate II/III will assist with intermediate-level research tasks and serve as the Project Coordinator for a study conducting a national survey of recovery housing. Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI), the Project Coordinator will be involved in several aspects of the project including Access and Survey Gizmo database development, recovery residence survey participant recruitment, data collection, and coordinating participant payments, as well as other data management activities pertaining to the recovery residence database and survey data. The Project Coordinator will also assist the PI in preparing IRB materials, developing contracts with Study Experts and outside consultants, maintaining the study website, conducting key informant interviews with the Study Experts, and assembling materials for the web conferences. The Project Coordinator will also work with the PI and study Biostatisticians in preparing the data for analysis and assist with the development of reports, presentations, and manuscripts from this work. The position is full-time for four years with the potential for continuation pending additional funding.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities
    • Prepare human subjects submissions and assist the PI in other tasks related to study regulatory compliance.
    • Populate, manage, and maintain a national database of recovery housing built in an Access platform.
    • Assist the PI in monitoring contracts with the Study Experts and outside consultants, including conducting key informant interviews and preparing materials for web conferences.
    • Program, test, and manage the electronic Alchemer/Survey Gizmo survey used to collect data from recovery residence operators.
    • Conduct outreach with recovery home operators for sampling frame verification and survey recruitment purposes and manage all aspects of survey respondent participation, including participant payment.
    • Organize and set up project meetings, maintain study website, and coordinate and liaise with project staff and study co-investigators.
    • Assist with collecting, organizing and cleaning data for geocoding.
    • Maintain and clean study data and prepare study data codebooks.
    • Conduct preliminary data analysis (qualitative and quantitative) and prepare tables and graphs of results.
    • Complete literature searches and compile review summaries as needed.
    • Other tasks as needed.
    Minimum Qualifications for Research Associate II
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
    • At least 2 years post-university work experience including experience in research.
    • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills.
    • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
    • Excellent computer skills and experience developing and managing spreadsheets (Excel) and database applications (Access, Alchemer/Survey Gizmo).
    • Familiarity with and experience implementing standard research operating procedures, protocols, and quality controls.
    • Ability to interface with human service professionals and experience recruiting and collecting data from these professionals.
    • Ability to conduct literature searches and succinctly communicate findings.
    • Familiarity with descriptive and inferential statistical procedures and experience conducting basic quantitative and qualitative analyses.
    • Intermediate knowledge of and experience with quantitative data analysis packages, such as SPSS or Stata (or other comparable statistical analysis programs).
    • Ability to convey information clearly and concisely and summarize research findings in written form.
    Minimum Qualifications for Research Associate III
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
    • At least 3 years research background in a relevant area, such as public health, psychology or sociology.
    • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills.
    • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
    • Excellent computer skills and experience developing and managing spreadsheets (Excel) and database applications (Access, Alchemer/Survey Gizmo).
    • Familiarity with and experience implementing standard research operating procedures, protocols, and quality controls.
    • Ability to interface with human service professionals and experience recruiting and collecting data from these professionals.
    • Ability to conduct literature searches and succinctly communicate findings.

    • Master’s degree.
    • Fieldwork or research experience with substance use treatment providers or other human service professionals in community settings.

    • This is a full-time (40 hours per week position).
    • For compliance reasons, applicants without research experience will not be considered.
    • The level for this position will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected applicant.
