National Salvage & Service Corporation is an industry leading specialty contractor and a growing company with current openings for Railroad Laborers. This is a great position for someone with equipment operator experience who has worked outside on farms or general construction. National’s railroad division is now hiring hard-working, dependable individuals as Laborers/Torch Cutting Operators. This position requires extensive travel.
DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Boom truck operator experience preferred
- Skid steer operator experience preferred
- CDL preferred
- Measure and mark sections of steel rail
- Cut rail with a torch
- Operate the cutting pickup truck both on and off the track
- Sort by hand OTM (Other Track Material such as plates, spikes, and anchors)
- Participate in all job briefings and comply with track protection limits
- Understand and follow all safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Torch cut rail as needed in off-track staging areas
Position-specific Competencies
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license required
- Able to consistently work 60 hours per week
- Standing, walking, and bending over repeatedly
- Able to repeatedly lift 75 pounds
- Dependable and consistent attendance/punctuality
- Must work well with others on a team
- Basic use of a smart phone
- Able to consistently travel four weeks at a time
- Typical rotation schedule is four weeks of work and travel, followed by one week off
- Must not have any criminal convictions within the last seven years; must not have completed a jail sentence or probation within the last five years
