The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and facilitate rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City. *To keep our employees safe, all employees are working remotely until further notice.


POSITION OVERVIEW

The Temporary Project Manager is a short-term role with primary responsibility for administration and management of projects focused on increasing access to COVID-19 vaccinations and improving equity in vaccine distribution. Duties shall focus on project implementation and monitoring, and team integration. This is a project-based position and is expected to continue through October 31, 2021. Extension of employment beyond this date is contingent on completion of the project.


The Project Manager must be adaptable and flexible in their approach to work, as some duties and responsibilities will evolve based on project needs. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, innovative thinker and a proven, creative problem-solver.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support management of administrative and daily operations of projects, ensuring consistent engagement and flow of information among teams
  • Manage external contracts, including development of contract documents, collection and verification of subcontractor documentation, monitoring progress, tracking deliverables, and processing invoices and payments
  • Proactively identify potential problems or risks to projects and work with the team to mitigate and/or design solutions
  • Work with project team to develop materials and resources to support and provide technical assistance to project partners.
  • Ensure adherence to funder, federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations, as applicable
  • Have regular meetings and maintain strong working relationships with project partners
  • Support regular communication across teams regarding shared goals and progress toward goal attainment
  • Coordinate contract closeout actions in a timely manner including but not limited to audits, establishment of final rates, property inventories, de-obligation of funds, etc.
  • Develop and maintain project management tools
  • Update and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Perform other duties as necessary/assigned.


  • BA/BS degree + 5 years project management experience; Master’s degree a plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of database and spreadsheet (Excel) software
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong budgeting experience, including ability to develop, monitor and analyze budgets and perform expenditure planning
  • Experience in drafting contract scopes of work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

This position will be hired through a staffing agency. Compensation for the position is hourly, with a rate commensurate with experience.
