    Salary Range: $41,602.70 - $66,301.50 Depending on experience and level of education
    (FTE and salary starting placement may be prorated depending upon student enrollment)

    Summary:
    Implement a Pharmacy Tech curriculum program consistent with the district educational goals and objectives, in partnership with business, industry and district stakeholders.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Prepare curriculum and instruction for the Pharmacy Tech program
    • Instruct students in the Pharmacy lab in filling prescriptions, mock pharmacy practices, translating prescriptions, inventory skills, retail product and IV bag labeling
    • Train students in practices of the retail and hospital pharmacies settings
    • Assist students with medical terminology exercises and medication workbook
    • Instruct in medical theory and Pharmacy lab work as set forth in the curriculum to earn certificate of completion
    • Instruct students how to explain the requirement for patient consultations by a pharmacist according to OBRA
    • Have experience giving intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal injections.
    • Ensure students apply effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Teach students to interview customers/patients for required information
    • Participate as a member of an instructional team to promote learning activities for students consistent with the program and district objectives
    • Coordinate work-based learning activities for students enrolled in the program
    • Provide constant supervision of students enrolled in the JTED Central Pharmacy Tech program
    • Have thorough knowledge of Pima County JTED policies that pertain to instruction, students, student discipline, etc.
    • Utilize and implement classroom management techniques to maintain organization, student safety, and a productive learning environment
    • Responsible for attendance, instruction, supervision, and grading of students. Submit reports as requested (grades, attendance, behavior, etc.)
    • Evaluate effectiveness of learning strategies and outcomes of educational activities and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs
    • Serve as advisor of a Career and Technical Student Organization, involving students in activities at the local, state, and national levels
    • Recruit students for the Pharmacy Tech Program
    • Maintain the physical facility including: equipment and supplies
    • Participate/Develop Pharmacy Tech industry advisory and community partners
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications/Education and/or Experience:
    • Must possess or be able to obtain an AZ Department of Education, Career & Technical Education: Health Career teaching certificate (provisional or standard)
    • Three years’ experience in in Pharmacy or Pharmacy Technician background
    • Hold a MS or BS in Pharmacy and AZ Board of Pharmacy License preferred
    • Hold a national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board certification
    • Three years teaching experience to include career/technical/occupational/vocational education in a certified secondary program is preferred
    • Thorough knowledge and application of secondary curriculum and instruction in career/technical/ occupational/vocational education, vocational work and apprenticeship programs is preferred
    • Ability to obtain adjunct faculty status at Pima Community College and/or the University of Arizona is preferred
    • Process or able to obtain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Able to work afternoon and evening hours
    • May be required to travel to perform work functions
    • Proof of MMR immunization required, unless born prior to January 1, 1957
    • Negative TB test (within the last year),
    • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or be able to obtain one
    • Valid Arizona Driver’s license

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
    • Ability to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of Pima County JTED policies that pertain to instruction, students, student discipline, etc.
    • Excellent time management and organizational
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • Ability to use appropriate technology and able to use as an integral part of instruction
    • Utilizes sound judgement and decision-making skills
    • Willingness to work with high school youth
    • Ability to use tools and equipment related to area of instruction
