Nuclear Waste Partnership is currently seeking a Mining Ops Technician to join our Operations team located in Carlsbad, NM. The successful candidate will perform routine underground mining/operation assignments related to maintaining integrity and stability of underground openings in contaminated and high contaminated areas. Follow all safety procedures, regulations and policies. Conduct frequent inspections of work areas to assure that safe conditions are maintained. Perform various drilling/bolting and mining work assignments. Qualify, operate, and train on all underground mining, drilling, and utility equipment. Complete and maintain training as required to perform work in accordance with site policies and procedures. Must be able to pass a pulmonary function test to qualify to wear and work in a respirator. May be assigned 7/10A, 7/10B, 4/10 backshift, or as needed. This is a USW Bargaining Unit Position. Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be U.S. Citizens. Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience in underground mining, rib/back integrity inspections, probe hole drilling, material handling equipment (forklifts, etc.), operation of diesel powered equipment associated with mining is preferred. Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.
