Job Description


THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The Marketing and Communications - Public Relations - Lead Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Draft and edit written communications, including press releases, media statements, talking points, briefing memos, and other supporting materials for media outreach.
  • Develop media planning and strategy.
  • Prepare summaries of media coverage/activity for key stakeholders.
  • Establish relationships within Marketing & Communications and throughout the company to help provide colleagues with most effective solutions to business needs. May supervise junior resources, including workload balancing and career development.
  • Manage media relations, announcements, editorial placement, and speaking opportunities.
  • Evaluate, vet, and authorize various forms of communication regarding Fannie Mae for release to the public and/or media.
  • Develop unique solutions and work to expand understanding of the organization's business, performance, and strategy.
  • Evaluate current processes and make recommendations for process changes, then work according to new guidelines or structure.
  • Work independently. Able to anticipate client needs and make recommendations for solutions.
  • Accountable for self and team. Demonstrates independent thinking and solid decision-making skills. Uses good judgement when handling assignments, solving problems, addressing challenges.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM


Skills

  • Strong background in public relations, media relations, or consulting with demonstrated experience engaging reactively and proactively with media outlets and reporters, and experience with social media outreach; communications experience in financial services, the mortgage industry, or related fields is a plus.
  • Excellent news release, FAQ/talking points, and social media writing skills with experience developing and writing information for easy and engaging media consumption.
  • Demonstrated experience writing external and internal communications plans for initiatives, media campaigns, products/programs, senior executive speaking platforms, etc.
  • Experience managing issues, crises, and business continuity, and ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Experience as on-the-record spokesperson and responding to media inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Experience driving positive media coverage of corporate priorities, products, and services.
  • Experience monitoring media coverage and social media, media coverage evaluation and analysis, and managing media lists.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a broad range of internal clients and constituencies; strong analytical and organizational skills, and strong influencing, strategic thinking, and consulting skills.
  • Adept at managing project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion.
  • Strong relationship management skills, including managing and engaging stakeholders and working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to achieve a common goal.
  • Skilled in creating visual concepts, creating content, and editing content by hand or with the help with computer software to communicate ideas.
  • Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand.
