Position Summary Skagit Valley College (SVC) is seeking qualified equity-minded applicants for a full-time, tenure track position in Engineering. The successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional classroom skills, enthusiasm for the subject matter, an inclusive and equity driven approach to teaching and learning, and innovative pedagogy and teaching strategies. This position will be expected to oversee the Engineering program, provide leadership in the growth and development of the program, and establish a learning environment to enhance the study of engineering. This will include course and curriculum development, collaborating with other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines and working with transfer institutions to increase enrollments in the program. Faculty at SVC respect and work effectively with diverse students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes innovative and equity-minded teaching, a diverse learning environment, and a strong focus on improving student success rates and addressing systemic inequities in access and achievement for all students. SVC Engineering faculty teach an equivalent of 15 credits per quarter (3 classes) and participate in College service. This position is expected to begin in Fall Quarter, September 2022.
This position is based primarily at the Mount Vernon Campus; however, instructors may be called upon to teach at the Whidbey Island Campus located in Oak Harbor. Future expansion of this program is expected at the Whidbey Island Campus.
This position is eligible for an additional High-Demand salary enhancement stipend beyond the initial faculty salary placement.
