Overall Responsibilities: Microelectronics Engineer position is to focus on developing plans and implement equipment improvements, control process yields, develop manufacturing process instructions, update standard operating procedures, and good working understanding of the integrated circuit assembly process. Material science application is a plus. This position requires specialized knowledge in technical writing skills and material science in order to prepare semiconductor reports and interpretation skills to read, prepare, and compile progress reports.

Duties:

  • General knowledge of technical drawings, CAD, other manufacturing software required.
  • Work closely with CAD and design teams to support automated design checks through simulation, verification and validation tools.
  • Perform DOE (design of experiments) to improve process and processing yields.
  • Validate new device designs, develop new processes to implement these device changes, and study process manufacturability, to confirm device reliability, and to extract device models.
  • Carry out device and process measurement/characterization activities as needed (PFMEA)
  • Design process experiments and splits to evaluate new device and technology performance.
  • Analyze results of experiments and communicate findings to relevant groups.
  • Working knowledge, of backside grind, wafer dicing, die plating, die attach, wire bonding (Thermosonic), high and low power inspection to MIL-STD-883 TM 2010
  • Provide preliminary analysis reports for yield and improvement for the clean room
  • Must be able to use a microscope for inspection and verification of defects
  • Ability to develop and illustrate basic electronic circuitry according to design parameters and engineering instruction and to test and evaluate semiconductor devices and electronic equipment.
  • Ability to use a range of systems and processes to fabricate and/or modify electronic components for semiconductor research and to utilize electronic calibration and testing equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex, detailed technical instructions.
  • Ability to identify and resolve computer/equipment interface problems.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines.
  • Knowledge of microelectronics testing procedures and laboratory equipment
  • Provides training to other Engineers, Technicians, and Operators as required.
  • Supports the development of a safe, ergonomic, and environmentally sound workplace.
  • Supports and adheres to the Quality Management System
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Education:

  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field with emphasis on semiconductor physics preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience with increasing responsibilities
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma Certification preferred.


Experience:

  • Good working knowledge of MIL-STD 883 TM 5004 and 2010
  • Previous experience working in a clean room environment (Class 100)
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics, operation, modeling and characterization and reliability.
  • Knowledge of foundry logic process technologies used for analog, mixed signal and digital designs.
  • Hands-on experience with test and measurement equipment such as semiconductor parameter analyzers, CV meters, and wafer probe stations
  • Pro-active, detail oriented, independent, self-motivated leader with exemplary customer service, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to distill complex technical ideas & information and communicate with others.
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills and possess good analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and coaching/mentoring skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills - written and verbal
  • Must demonstrate flexibility, self-direction, and self-discipline to plan and accomplish objectives and meet deadlines with limited supervision.


Preferred Experience

  • Familiar with ESD devices, protection topologies, characterization, and automated checking tools.
  • Familiar with analog and digital circuits is desirable as well as knowledge of CMOS image sensor technology.
  • Understanding of Semiconductor Manufacturing process flows (Wafer Probe, Package Assembly & Test, Burn-In, System Level Tests) to include wafer scribing and dicing.
