American Express has recently completed the acquisition of Kabbage, a leading financial technology company providing cash flow management solutions to U.S. small businesses. Kabbage, as part of American Express, will continue to offer a broad range of checking, payment, cash flow and financial management products and tools.

Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the global leader in providing payments solutions for Small, Medium and Large businesses. Kabbage operates within GCS, delivering small businesses an integrated, automated cash flow management solution that includes lending, checking, payment processing, and insights. This Checking Strategy and Solutions Director will be responsible for defining and driving the strategy and execution of the Kabbage Small Business checking account. The director will work with a cross functional team across marketing, channels, operations, technology, legal, risk, and compliance in an ongoing mission to optimize the product market position, experience, compliance and financial return in a consistent manner with corporate strategies.

In this role, you will:

  • Define, communicate and execute the strategy and roadmap for the Small Business Checking account. This includes driving performance, continuing innovation and product roadmap across multiple workstreams (e.g. onboarding, marketing, servicing, mobile)
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with key internal partners to develop a business case and perform analysis to support feature prioritization aligning with the corporate strategy.
  • Manage third party relationships related to the checking product, including contract negotiations, roadmap planning, issue escalations and implementation of projects to drive the evolution of product capabilities.
  • Serve as the primary interface with marketing, legal and business partners
  • Partner with the product management integration team to develop Key Performance Indicators to monitor ongoing business performance
  • Support product and process design with key stakeholders and cross-functional partners across the organization to account for requirements from credit and fraud risk, financial crimes, compliance, regulatory and legal

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years of Product Management experience and/or Checking/Deposits account, Retail or Business Banking experience
  • Experience acting as a liaison between business & tech teams to define, prioritize, & deliver projects
  • Strategic thought leadership and strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience managing large scale projects with multiple business partner relationships and stakeholders at various levels.
  • Experience leading and managing direct and indirect teams
  • Excellent project/process management and prioritization skills, with a focus on results.
  • Ability to build relationships, influence others, and bring multiple cross-functional teams together toward common goals
  • Experience managing external partnerships and the third-party lifecycle management aspects
  • Self-starter and solutions-driven, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new responsibilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with experience and comfort working closely with all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent work experience in product management and banking
