Job Description The Great Basin College Career and Technical Education Department seeks a broadly trained Diesel Technology expert to complement its existing program in Elko Nevada. The position will be based in Elko, with some travel within the service area required. This is a tenure track B Plus position. The “B Plus” contract is for teaching an extended year program, slightly longer than the traditional two semesters. This is to accommodate a condensed, one-year Associate degree program. Qualifications: Graduate of a certified Diesel trade school is minimum, Associate’s degree or higher is preferred. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in diesel, mining related equipment repair & maintenance ASE Master Certified as Medium/Heavy Truck Technician preferred. Teaching experience in a community college or technical field is preferred Responsibilities: Teach all aspects of heavy equipment repair and maintenance Participate in diesel advisory board meetings May be required to teach evening or distance education classes Use online learning management to deliver course content and assessments Participate in Faculty Senate and college committees as assigned Advise students in Career and Technical Education programs Develop and update curriculum to keep Diesel program current Attend professional development training Travel within the state as necessary, with or without accommodations under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Other duties as assigned Salary and Benefits: Annual salary range is $60,000 - $73,000 commensurate with experience and education. Nevada System of Higher Education benefits package includes a 401(a) defined contribution retirement plan with employees contributing 15.25 % and a matching 15.25% from the employer, medical/dental/vision plan, benefit time, 11 paid holidays, and tuition waiver at Nevada System of Higher Education colleges for the employee and family.
