The Portfolio Quality Assurance team monitors the effectiveness and adherence of credit policies and procedures of the Origination Underwriting, Line Management and Subordination teams. We provide actionable recommendations to emerging trends and work with our business partners to identify root cause of issues impacting quality. Responsible for examining and analyzing mortgage programs, processes, documentation and or files of unusual, complex and high risk transactions to ensure credit policy and procedural compliance with internal company requirements and/ or government regulations. Clearly communicates overall process or transaction quality and provides feedback to appropriate contacts regarding identified deficiencies or issues including identification of inconsistencies. Analyzes risks and offsets and develops solutions for issues identified. Provide support for exam management activities and any other initiatives as needed.

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in less complex initiatives and identify opportunity for risk mitigation strategies within Credit Risk
  • Lead, develop, and implement strategic initiatives and processes to drive the company credit culture, appetite, and business performance
  • Review and analyze reports to assess and predict risk and monitor performance that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives, and exercise independent judgment to guide medium risk deliverables
  • Receive direction from leaders
  • Exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Interact with internal customers
Required Qualifications, US:
  • 2+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • 2+ years experience in home lending underwriting
  • Non-Conforming, correspondent or home equity loan underwriting experience
  • Experience in a quality review function
  • LPS, LIS, CORE, HOGAN, SHAW, CLOUD and other Wells Fargo systems of record
  • Knowledge and understanding of Wells Fargo Home Lending underwriting policy and procedures across various products
  • Strong research and documentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of income analysis including self-employment cash flow
  • Judgmental quality review experience
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detai l and accuracy
  • Inte rmediate Microsoft office office (word, excel and outlook skills)
  • Ex cellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
