Covenant Health is seeking a full time, day shift Clinic LVN for Jason Strefling Staff Department at Covenant Medical Group.

Job Summary:

Administers nursing care to patients within an assigned clinic. Provides assistance to clinic physicians.

Essential Function:

  • Demonstrates the ability to transfer scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences in applying the nursing process.
  • Gives patient education and instruction as directed by the physician (to include but not limited to, judgments and decisions on phone calls, advising patients with physician guidelines, procedures preparation, in-home care).
  • Perform clerical duties to include appointment scheduling, chart maintenance, x-ray and lab scheduling, routing all test results to physician, and reporting results to patients.
  • Responsible for room and patient preparation per clinic/physician guidelines. Patient assessment, vital signs, history/present illness, allergies, medication, and visual acuity on general physicals as requested.
  • Administers specified medication and injection, and documentation on patient medical chart. Administers prescribed procedures, including but not limited to, catheterization, throat cultures, suture removal, specimen collection, ear irrigation, wound and burn dressing. Applies orthopedic devices, arm slings, leg, ankle, wrist, and shoulder splints, and rib belts. Instruct in use of crutches.
  • Maintaining patient care area. Restocking supplies, exam rooms, ordering medication, and maintaining drug supplies according to system policies. Maintains work area in neat and organized manner. Maintains a safe work environment by adhering to JACHO and other regulatory requirements.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education: Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.

License and Certification: Current Texas or New Mexico L.V.N license required or an approved compact state as a Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse.

Preferred Position Qualification:

  • BLS (AHA) certification
